Macedonia Exhibition In Sultan Abdulhamid II's Yıldız Albums” Exhibition And “Macedonia During The Ottoman Era” Conference Were Organized In North Macedonia

The "Macedonia Exhibition in Sultan Abdulhamid II's Yıldız Albums" was opened at the International Balkan University in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. Following the exhibition's opening, a conference titled "Macedonia During the Ottoman Era" was held.


The project, which brings together photographs of North Macedonia from Sultan Abdulhamid II’s Yıldız Palace Photography Collection, aims to showcase the architectural richness of the Balkans through images and contribute to the literature by preserving the region’s cultural heritage.

Following the photo exhibition, which featured images of Ottoman-era mosques, hospitals, train stations, military and vocational schools, barracks, squares, mansions, bridges, and cityscapes, a conference titled "Macedonia During the Ottoman Era" was also held.  At the conference, Prof. Dr. Mehmet İnbaşı gave a presentation on "The Ottoman Era in Macedonia," while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Kul delivered a presentation on "Macedonia During the Reign of Sultan Abdulhamid in the 19th Century."

As part of the program, the opening of the "Macedonia Exhibition in Sultan Abdulhamid II's Yıldız Albums" was carried out by Abdullah Eren, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Turkish Ambassador to Skopje Fatih Ulusoy, and Rector of the International Balkan University Lütfi Sunar.

Eren: “The Republic of Türkiye is present in the Balkans with all its institutions and organizations.”

The opening speech of the program was delivered by YTB President Abdullah Eren. He emphasized that the International Balkan University is a distinguished educational institution in the Balkans, successfully becoming a center of attraction for students with its ever-improving quality of education since its establishment.  Eren highlighted that the Republic of Türkiye is present in the Balkans with all its institutions and organizations. He also spoke about the peaceful order established by the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans through its Istimalet (the policy of tolerence) policy and added that the experience of the past should be examined as a potential model for the future.

Abdullah Eren stated, “Today, Türkiye strives to extend a sincere hand to the Balkans, including North Macedonia.” He also emphasized their aim to walk together toward a better future and present a new perspective to the world.

The program concluded with a gift presentation.
